Here on Poipu Beach, there is a unique geological feature that adds to its charm: a tombolo! This natural wonder, located towards the beach’s western end, is a narrow sandbar that extends out from the shore, sometimes even connecting to a small islet. Nukumoi Point, as the tombolo is called, acts like a natural barrier, creating two distinct sections on Poipu Beach. On one side, the calm, shallow waters are perfect for families with young children. The other side boasts slightly more powerful waves, ideal for experienced bodyboarders seeking thrills.

Finding Nukumoi Point is easy. Head towards the western end of Poipu Beach Park. You’ll likely see the sandbar jutting out from the shoreline, creating a picturesque division between the calmer and livelier sections of the beach. This unique feature not only enhances the visual appeal of Poipu Beach but also contributes to its reputation as a destination catering to a variety of beachgoers.

In December 2021, filmmaker Roman Khomlyak embarked on a new adventure with his Panasonic GH5 camera. It was a tradition for Roman and his family to escape to Hawaii every winter, a time when he could marry leisure with his passion for capturing the essence of nature on film. That year, he set his sights on Kauai island, eager to explore its unique landscapes and hidden gems.
