Moraine Lake is a glacier-fed lake located in Banff National Park, Canada. Surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, and rock formations, Moraine Lake is nestled in the Valley of the Ten Peaks and is considered one of the most scenic places in Canada. All because of the amazing color of the water in the lake! Its brilliant blue-green color, fed by glaciers, is the result of the refraction of light from rock flour in a glacial runoff that flows into the lake. The peak of the brightness of this color is in July when the glaciers begin to melt. The view in this video is known as the “Twenty Dollar View” as it is featured on the back of Canadian twenty dollar bills issued between 1969 and 1979.

During his stay in Alberta, Agnius traveled to various amazingly beautiful places in Canada. At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic did not have many available locations in the parks, but such landscapes and the opportunity to immortalize them with your camera are worth all the effort! Moraine Lake was filmed in August 2020, just at the time when the color of the water in the lake acquired its famous saturation and brightness.
