Lake Minnewanka has been held in high regard and respected for well over 10,000 years. Its deep waters have been visited and lived upon by many, with the Stoney Nakoda First Nations people calling it “Lake of the Spirits” or Minn-waki. The lakeshore is home to archeological sites that contain artifacts dating back to 14,000 years ago, providing a glimpse into the rich history of the area.

Located in the eastern region of Banff National Park in Canada, Lake Minnewanka is situated approximately five kilometers northeast of the Banff townsite. With a length of 21 kilometers and a depth of 142 meters, it is the second-longest lake in the mountain parks of the Canadian Rockies. Its glacial origins and stunning natural beauty make it a popular destination for visitors to the area, providing a peaceful and serene setting for all to enjoy.

This amazing video was filmed by our filmmaker Agnius Narkevicius during his one-year tour of Canada. Filming took place during the day, but then we turned the day into night with the help of a computer program. The idea of creating nightly relaxation videos has long occupied our thoughts, but unfortunately, so far none of our cameras has coped with full-fledged beautiful, and high-quality night shooting. But now, with the help of digital technologies, we can turn a daytime landscape into a nighttime one, imagining what a deep moonlit night on the shores of Lake Minnewanka would look like in 4K!
