In mid-June, the Palouse region, spanning southeastern Washington, north-central Idaho, and northeastern Oregon, bursts into a vibrant tapestry of colors. The rolling hills are predominantly lush green from young wheat and barley fields, with interspersed golden patches where winter wheat ripens. Clear blue skies and occasional white clouds enhance the idyllic scenery. This fertile region is renowned for its wheat, barley, lentils, chickpeas, and peas, all contributing to its agricultural richness.

The Palouse’s unique loess soil hills, formed by ancient volcanic activity and wind-blown deposits, create both stunning visuals and farming challenges. This distinctive topography, combined with remnants of native prairie ecosystems and cutting-edge agricultural research from local universities, makes the Palouse a fascinating blend of natural beauty and agricultural innovation.

This video, filmed around June 18th during a trip from Oregon to Washington, showcases the scenic beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
