This video was shot by our filmmaker Roman Khomlyak in his backyard in spring in Washington State, which comes alive with the vibrant blooms of cherry blossom, rhododendron, dogwood, and fruit trees like apple and cherry, all enhanced by the lush beauty of the “Evergreen State.” As you revel in the picturesque scenery, listen for the melodious tunes of American Robins, Song Sparrows, and the distinctive sounds of Anna’s Hummingbirds and Northern Flickers. The charming yellow plumage of American Goldfinches and the haunting calls of Varied Thrushes add to the seasonal symphony.

Filming this video was an incredible experience. Roman used a top-notch Blackmagic Ursa 12K camera to capture all the beautiful details of spring. To make the video look more like a movie, he added Black Diffusion Mist Cinematic filter, which softened the edges and created a dreamy atmosphere. But what really made it special were the old Soviet Union lenses he used: the Helios-44m f2/58mm M42 mount and Helios-40-2 USSR 85mm f1.5 M42 lenses. These lenses gave the video a nostalgic and artistic look, with a cool blurred background effect. They made our video feel like it’s from a different time while showing off the beauty of spring.
