Nestled in the heart of the Umpqua National Forest, it is regarded as a popular recreational destination for outdoor enthusiasts, including hikers, campers, and fishing enthusiasts. The Diamond Lake is situated at an altitude of 5,183 feet and spans over 2,824 acres, making it the perfect place to explore by canoe, kayak or paddleboat. The lake is also home to a thriving population of rainbow trout, brown trout, and kokanee salmon, making it an ideal location for fishing enthusiasts.

If camping is what you’re looking for, Diamond Lake offers excellent camping facilities, including tent sites, RV sites, and cabin rentals. There are plenty of options for every taste and budget, each with access to various amenities including picnic sites, showers, and restrooms. The lake also features a general store, a restaurant, and a gift shop, so visitors can enjoy all the comforts of home while enjoying a relaxing vacation.

Our filmmaker Roman Khomlyak was convinced of this when he ended up at the Diamond Lake campground unplanned. A wildfire that broke out prevented filming at Crater Lake National Park, forcing Roman to move to the other side. But the calm expanse of Diamond Lake, cozy atmosphere, and beautiful views were definitely worth it!
