The name “Pohoiki” translates to ‘two little moons,’ recalling its history. In 1963, The Army Corps of Engineers carved a channel, creating a safe ocean access area. Puna, home to Pohoiki, is unique for its location on K?lauea, the world’s most active volcano, influencing limited development, maintaining a low cost of living, and attracting diverse residents. Pohoiki embraces this spirit, attracting a community seeking an authentic Hawaiian experience close to the sea.

In the winter of 2023, our filmmaker Roman Khomlyak embarked on a cinematic journey to capture the serene beauty of Pohoiki Beach using DJI Mini 3 Pro drone technology. The vision was to create a visual masterpiece that transcends the conventional, offering a unique vertical orientation. This deliberate choice enables viewers to carry a piece of Hawaii with them wherever they go.
