Many who hear the name “Garden Ring” become interested in its history. It began in the 17th century when there were fortifications and earthen embankments, which led to the popular name “Earthen Wall”. Then, years later, when the need for defensive structures disappeared, a wide ring street was created in place of the ditches. People began to build buildings here, the distances between which reached 60 m. To fill the voids, they planted gardens around their houses.

Also known as the “B” Ring now, the Garden Ring is an extensive circular arterial street system in the center of the metropolitan area. The Garden Ring consists of 17 streets and boulevards and 15 squares. The length of the main system is 9.9 m.
